Some Common Errors on HW

I will try to remember to announce this in class on Monday, but for future homework, especially those making sentences,  please leave space between each item so I can make correction easier. It is OK to write on the back of the page.

For Chinese Geography HW, please note that while other regions of China is not clearly defined. Such as what provinces count as China‘s 中部，China's 东北部 can only be one of these 3 provinces：黑龙江， 吉林， 辽宁。The regional tongue spoken is usually referred to as 东北话 （Northeastern Mandarin)

 

平安：this word is a little different from "安全" safe. Some common usage of 平安 is ：一路平安，岁岁平安， 平安夜（Christmas Eve）， 出入平安

饮食： this word means “Diet” which means “eating pattern or habit. You can say 饮食习惯， 健康的饮食etc

去+VO: if you want to make this one past tense, put 了 after V to become  去V了O. 

              Ex. 我昨天去吃了饭   not 我昨天去了吃饭.

                     我早上去爬了山。Not 我早上去了爬山。

保持：Keep， this is to indicate a continuous state.

            我要保持好的心情。（continuous state of being in good mood） 

            上课要保持安静 （continous state of being quiet）

实惠：“economical” and  “economy” are not the same thing.

地道：authentic， genuine， not tunnel. Usually refers to a dish being authentic 这道川菜很地道。
